Tiger Utilities is a family run water main and drainage company based in Wallasey, on the Wirral. Dane and Maria Murray founded the business in January 2017 and still run it between them (Dane on site, Maria in the office).

We replace lead and ageing water supply pipes, install and repair drains and sewers, carry out CCTV drain surveys and run a vacuum tanker service across the North West of England, North Wales and the Midlands. Since 2017 we have completed more than 6,000 jobs, the majority of them water main replacements.

We are registered with the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme under registration number GW4307, accredited by CHAS, listed on the United Utilities approved contractor register, and covered for £5 million public liability.

The people behind the business

Dane Murray

Owner, Director and Site Manager

Dane has worked in the water industry since 2016 and founded Tiger Utilities with Maria the following January. He runs the site side of the business and is out on jobs most days, which is why he is usually the one who comes to survey your property before a quote goes out.

Dane is registered with the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme under GW4307, holds Street Works Qualification Register number 26282865, and is qualified for confined space working and as an NPORS plant operator.

Maria Murray

Owner, Director and Office Manager

Maria runs the office. Quotes, scheduling, the water company paperwork and the funding applications all go through her, which means she is the person who will chase United Utilities when your application is sitting in a queue. If you ring 0151 559 0787 during office hours, you will most likely speak to Maria.

Charlie

Engineer

Charlie is one of the two engineers who carry out our water main and drainage work across the Wirral, Liverpool and Cheshire.

Andrew

Engineer

Andrew works alongside Charlie and Dane on water main replacements, drain repairs and survey work throughout the North West.

What we are qualified to do

Working on drinking water supply is regulated, and rightly so. These are our credentials, with the numbers, so you can check them rather than take our word for it.

  • WIAPS registration GW4307. The Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme is one of the four schemes that make up the WaterSafe register. Several water companies, including Severn Trent, require a WaterSafe registered plumber for work on shared supply pipes.
  • Street Works Qualification Register number 26282865. Required for anyone breaking open a public highway under the New Roads and Street Works Act.
  • CHAS accredited, membership number 141126. Independent assessment of our health and safety management.
  • £5 million public liability cover, plus employers liability insurance.
  • United Utilities approved contractor. We are listed on the United Utilities approved contractor register and work on their lead pipe replacement scheme.
  • Confined space and NPORS plant operator qualified.

The services we offer

Our main work is lead pipe replacement and water mains installation, usually using trenchless moling so that driveways, gardens and paths stay intact. Alongside that we handle drain repairs and installation, CCTV drain surveys, drain unblocking, new sewer connections and septic tank installation and emptying.

We also run a vacuum tanker service for commercial and industrial clients, covering gully cleaning, interceptor and pump station cleaning and flood water removal. A full list is on our services page.

We are based in Wallasey and most of our work is on the Wirral and across Merseyside, though we cover the wider North West, North Wales and the Midlands. Our lead pipe replacement service has dedicated pages for Liverpool, Wirral and Chester.
